Yesterday

Yesterday, a coworker brought me his Ar-15 lower to take a look at. Being somewhat of an amateur gunsmith and having built several dozen AR-15s over the last few years, I agreed to help. He had said the gun fell apart while shooting. The buffer fell out of the buffer tube and the rear takedown pin wouldn't stay in the receiver.

The buffer fell apart because it had not been properly assembled and he had lost the detent and detent spring from the rear of the gun so the pin would never stay in the gun. He was ready to toss the whole lower into the dumpster. I told him he could fix these problems for less than $3, it would take less than 5 minutes and when done, he would have a decent lower he could use to build a good rifle.

What you can learn from this is often we are so fixed on a problem we don't understand, we can see no solution and are ready to give up. When you ask for help, sometimes its just to see what we can't see for ourselves and for the guidance needed so we don't have to give up. Once we overcome those obstacles, a world of possibilities will open before us.
